Angel Mountain

Engelberg (which means 'Angel Mountain') is a beautiful village in the Swiss Alps founded after an angelic event occured there over 500 years ago. We discovered this magical place unexpectedly one Christmas and we've made a short video to share the story of Engelberg, what we love about it and where we love to stay. More information about the alpine walks is provided below the video.

Engelberg Walking Trails: A wonderful opportunity to connect with nature angels!

Brunnipfad - Easy/Medium 2-2.5hrs
12 signs along the Brunni-Pfad nature trail help guests become more familiar with the alpine environment and it's way of life. They also depict the interaction between men and mountains for a better understanding among guests and residents alike. More than 100 plant species are identified and described along the circular panoramic trail. Easily accessible even if wet.

Brunni Tickle Trail

The tickle trail by the top station of the Brunni chairlift offers a special kind of thrill. The barefoot path round the idyllic 'Harzlisee', at 1860 metres above sea level, is unique in the mountains. Over a 220m route, nature can be experienced at close hand and your general well-being enhanced. Not only is it lovely to walk barefoot over changing surfaces (sand, wood chips, pebbles, clay, water etc.) for the feel and the experience, but this special kind of foot massage also stimulates blood circulation and has a positive effect on the whole organism; the circulatory system is improved, the immune system becomes more resistant and vitalitiy is activated, as defined by Kneipp cure principles. The bare-foot walkway is suitable for all ages.

Medicinal Herb Trails:
Brunni

People who live in mountain districts know a lot about Alpine herbs and this knowledge has been passed down through generations. The idea of the Brunni medicinal herb trails is to ensure that this wealth of information on folk medicine is not lost, but is put in a scientific context. Indications as to the effectiveness of the herbs come mainly from literature on folk medicine, or reflect local experiences on the subject. On different paths around the Harzli lake by the top station of the Brunni chairlift, these medicinal herbs can be viewed in their natural habitat. In addition, an information sheet explains the labelled plants along the path.
