Mont-Saint-Michel: Spectacular Inspiration

Mont-Saint-Michel in northern France has been a sacred pilgrimage center since
A.D. 708 and still carries a unique energy, seemingly floating on the sea at times.
The Feast of St. Michael is celebrated here and around the world on September 29.

Skellig Michael (Michael's Rock)

'Michael's Rock' named for Archangel Michael, is a steep rocky island in the
Atlantic Ocean off the coast of County Kerry, Ireland. A monastery situated near
the top of the 230m high rock was founded around the 7th century. The beehive
huts on the cliff walls, used by monks for 600 years, are well preserved due to the
remoteness of the island. Skellig Michael became a World Heritage site in 1996.
